Falz, Bovi, Reject MOPICON Bill

Nigerian entertainers who graced the 4th edition of the Nigerian Entertainment Conference held at the Landmark Convention Centre, Oniru, Lagos, on Wednesday, April 20th 2016, seriously criticized and rejected the proposed bill which advocates the formation of the Motion Picture Practitioners Council of Nigeria (MOPICON).While speaking at the Conference, budding rap artiste and actor, Folarin 'Falz' Falana angrily shared his dissatisfaction on the proposed bill. "How can you say if someone wants to post motion pictures on YouTube, Instagram or facebook they have to join a council?

The MOPICON Bill is ridiculous" he queried. The bill was condemned by many entertainers because it suggests restriction of creativity. Popular comedian and actor, Bovi, shared the same reservation on the proposed bill. He suggested that the bill would limit the entertainment industry.

The bill, which proposes a regulation of quality Nollywood film production was initiated 10 years ago, but was suspended because the proposers believed it was doctored.
